Fighter vs. Word Play
|Fighter is walking in the dark cave.|
|Fighter||Boy, it sure is dark and scary and lonely in this doom cave.|
Now what was that story Master Vargus used to tell me about quests to make them less scary...
|A flashback occurs involving a young Fighter and Vargus superimposed over an image of a Jabberwock.|
|Vargus||Beware the Jabberwock, my son!|
The jaws that bite, the claws that catch!
Beware the Jubjub bird, and shun
the frumious Bandersnatch!
|Vargus||He took his Vorpal sword in hand:|
long time the Manxome for he sought
so rested he by the Tumtum tree, and
stood awhile in thought.
|Fighter||"Manxome"? I just heard you say that and I still don't know how that's pronounced.|
|Young Fighter imagines himself holding a Vorpal sword as well as a Tumtum tree and a Stalk-Eye as "Manxome...?" The Stalk-Eye says "Yo."|
|Fighter||Cookies taste good.|
|Vargus||And, as in Uffish thought he stood,|
the Jabberwock, with eyes of flame,
came whiffling through the Tulgey Wood,
and burbled as it came!
|Fighter||See, whiffling I could almost believe, but you had lost me with "Tulgey".|
|Jabberwock||(looking distinctly like a dragon) I gots yer "Tulgey Wood" right here! Ohhh, yeah! Burble!|
|Vargus||One, two! One, two! And through and through|
the Vorpal blade went snicker-snack!
He left it dead, and with its head
he went galumphing back.
"And, hast thou slain the Jabberwock?
Come to my arms, my beamish boy!
O frabjous day! Callooh! Callay!
He chortled in his joy.
|Fighter||You totally made all that up! Half those words aren't even real!|
|Fighter||I'm going to be so disillusioned when I grow up thanks to this. You better just hope that I don't recall this memory at some traumatic moment in the future in an attempt to calm my nerves with a dose of childhood. 'Cause, man, you just killed my innerchild and I'm only six.|
|End of flashback.|
|Fighter||Lousy disillusionment of childhood memories.|
What you do for Fighter!
