What do you guys think of this guide? Helpful or not? Go ahead and change anything if you want. Jeppo 23:02, 25 February 2009 (UTC)

I think it's great. ScatheMote 23:44, 25 February 2009 (UTC)
Perfect. It seems to cover everything. MasterBerserker 05:33, 26 February 2009 (UTC)

Manual of Style[]

All four of us seem to have different manuals of style when creating comic scripts, but I think it is a good idea to stick with just one. I'll post various pieces of comic and below various ways of writing it in script form, and we can vote for which is best. Jeppo 00:03, 4 April 2009 (UTC)

#1 Person speaking, several speech bubble sections, same frame[]

Example
Episode 023
Method 1: New paragraph

Black Mage Hm… Magic Missile? Don't make me laugh.

Lorloveim's Creeping Shadow? Laaaaaame!

Mordenkainen's Celerity? Ha, weeeeeaaaak.

Yo, shopkeep!

Method 2: New line

Black Mage Hm… Magic Missile? Don't make me laugh.
Lorloveim's Creeping Shadow? Laaaaaame!
Mordenkainen's Celerity? Ha, weeeeeaaaak.
Yo, shopkeep!

Method 3: split into separate templates

Black Mage Hm… Magic Missile? Don't make me laugh.
Black Mage Lorloveim's Creeping Shadow? Laaaaaame!
Black Mage Mordenkainen's Celerity? Ha, weeeeeaaaak.
Black Mage Yo, shopkeep!

Method 4: All in one go

Black Mage Hm… Magic Missile? Don't make me laugh. Lorloveim's Creeping Shadow? Laaaaaame! Mordenkainen's Celerity? Ha, weeeeeaaaak. Yo, shopkeep!

Comments:

I think Method 2 is best. Jeppo

1 or 2. ScatheMote 00:19, 4 April 2009 (UTC)
I've been using 2 for this. //masterConjurer (Talk)_ 02:54, 4 April 2009 (UTC)
I'd go with 3, but since Master Conjurer is going with 2, I'll go with 2 as well... Chocolancer 03:41, 4 April 2009 (UTC)

#2: Same as above, but in separate frames[]

Example:
Twoframes
Method 1:New Paragraph

Black Mage Strength... returning. Bones... mended. Organs... healed. Self-naration... fading.

And I owe it all to you.

Method 2: New Line

Black Mage Strength... returning. Bones... mended. Organs... healed. Self-naration... fading.
And I owe it all to you.

Method 3: Split into separate templates

Black Mage Strength... returning. Bones... mended. Organs... healed. Self-naration... fading.
Black Mage And I owe it all to you.

Method 4: all in one go

Black Mage Strength... returning. Bones... mended. Organs... healed. Self-naration... fading. And I owe it all to you.

Comments

I was using Method 1 initially, but I think Chocolancer's idea (method 3) is better. Jeppo

3. Also, which one do I use of these? ScatheMote 00:19, 4 April 2009 (UTC)
Judging by this, a mix between nos. 1 and 4. Jeppo 00:23, 4 April 2009 (UTC)
I started at 3, but lately I've been doing 2. //masterConjurer (Talk)_ 02:55, 4 April 2009 (UTC)
For this one, 3...I think that's a better way to do it. Chocolancer 03:41, 4 April 2009 (UTC)

#3: Bolding and/or italics[]

8bt0092
Method 1: No formatting

Black Mage This is the most pathetic battle ever. Let's never, never, never talk about it again.

Method 2: Bold

Black Mage This is the most pathetic battle ever. Let's never, never, never talk about it again.

Method 3: Bold and Italics

Black Mage This is the most pathetic battle ever. Let's never, never, never talk about it again.

Comments

I'm leaning towards method 2, it just looks better. Jeppo

Most certainly not 1. I'd say 2. ScatheMote 00:19, 4 April 2009 (UTC)
I use 3 because it is the closest to in the comic itself. //masterConjurer (Talk)_ 02:55, 4 April 2009 (UTC)
Just bolding it is fine...italicizing is a bit too much... Chocolancer 03:41, 4 April 2009 (UTC)

Categories[]

Can't you add the "appearance" categories things into the template or will that not work?  Lion Heart 10:57, 24 July 2009 (UTC)

I have thought about doing that, but then not all characters that appear in a comic have a speaking part. Plus I prefer to have the Appearance categories listed after the Comic Scripts category, but that's just a matter of preference. Jeppo (Talk) 13:46, 24 July 2009 (UTC)
